As much as I looove being tan (surprised?) and therefore love the summer, I also totally adore the fall. The cute clothes, the leaves changing, the crisp breeze, the cute jammies that get to come back out….and – last, but certainly not least – pumpkin spice lattes. They are, after all, the only time I ever went to Starbucks before Will introduced me to iced espresso drinks in the summer of 2007. And I’ll be honest – after working there I kinda got sick of the PSL. But I’m still super duper excited about tomorrow’s debut of the PSL! I will certainly be passing up my usual number one love – the Starbucks doubleshot on ice – in honor of this occasion.
In fact, I’m going to even take it a step further.
I came home tonight and made marinara sauce with tomatoes, fresh garlic, basil, a little oregano – all in the food processor. Then I added some diced tomatoes so it would have a little chunk to it. I sauteed 1/2 an onion with a package of hot Italian sausage, s&p, a little oregano and then added mushrooms to the mix to let them saute a little. Then I poured my homemade sauce over the top and let it simmer on the stove while I moved on to my real goal.
And so in honor of the PSL I made pumpkin spice cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. OMG. I love anything and everything pumpkin – coffee, bread, muffins…so why not cupcakes!? No brainer, right?
I can’t wait to try them – they smell so fucking good. And so I bring you….
