On Pumpkin Spice Latte debut day I had my first PSL of the season and was utterly disappointed. Since this has been my favorite thing ever for years I was a little saddened by my lack of love for it this year. In an effort to enjoy it again I started the process of trying to remember how I’d perfected it while I was working as a barista last year and had the chance to play around with everything. By the way – there was nothing better than the day Serena and I made pumpkin spice whipped cream and ate it out of the can in the backroom in between customers. Holy yum.
Anyway, today after a conference call that I’d been a little nervous about I needed a little special treat, as I was pretty proud of myself. I’d already had my daily doubleshot (in case you forgot it’s an iced 1/2 caf 6 shot venti 6 pump sugar-free hazelnut breve Starbucks Doubleshot), but I wanted more…something…ummm special. So I got to thinking about the PSL and I just had to try to like it again. I THINK I HIT THE MARK!!! It’s a 1/2 caf quad grande 2 pump pumpkin spice 2 pump sugar-free vanilla nonfat with whip (nonfat with whip, you say? Why yes, I say.) PSL. And it is PERFECT. P-E-R-F-E-C-T. 1/2 the sugar, 1/2 the calories, all the delicious goodness of pumpkin spice with a little vanilla to make it taste like pie.
Only thing I didn’t love was that this beast cost me $5.39, and that was with my 10% Starbucks Gold Card discount! WHAT-EVAHHHH! I miss my partner discount.
