here and there

I can’t see any reason the barista making my drink would need to be wearing her Bluetooth headset at work. I’d like to know you’re talking to me, not the person in your ear. You’re at work.

Texting with a guy I met online this morning and he asks me “So what are you doing today?” Am I the only person who assumes, unless otherwise informed, that most people work Monday through Friday during normal business hours?

This morning Boss and I were discussing work at my desk; Old Uncle was on the phone. We were not being loud. Trust me – we weren’t. Two of the auditors were in the office this morning and talking – again about work and not loudly – in the cubes next to ours. OUM had the nerve to put his caller on hold and inform us all that he was “on a crucial call and I need you all to stop talking.” We all looked at each other with the same WTF look, as OUM is the loudest talker in the history of the world and not one of us has ever complained about it. Guess what I’m planning to do?

Saw that the free song of the week at Starbucks is by my favorite man ever – Amos Lee. Now I need to go see when the new album is coming out. I almost squealed when I saw it. Oh! It came out Tuesday and it’s ONLY $6.99!!! I’m not too far behind the times. Can’t wait to listen to it.

I wore some cute new shoes today, but they’re killllling my toes. Not because of the 5”heel, but because they’re a tiny bit tight across the front. I can’t wait ‘til my date is over tonight so I can take them off. Only about 6 more hours to go.

Turns out the unknown texter was Fake Boyfriend. I’m not surprised. The way I discovered it? After getting another text from him last night I decided to respond like I was talking to someone else entirely. After a little back and forth I called him Eric…which is neither his name, nor the name of anyone else I know. After calling me sloppy he informed me he was FB. I deleted the texts and went to bed, but not without fucking with him a little first. Before you get all self-righteous let me just say that he deserves it. Believe that.

I met a girl at work today who told me she’s scared to try online dating. This seemed so foreign to me. but I guess when you’ve met as many men online as I have you become immune. I just don’t get the fear thing…I mean it’s not like you’re meeting them at your home or something. I’ve met some strange birds, but never anyone scary. Then again, maybe that’s because I don’t generally date too many white dudes.
